Supporting the families of fallen soldiers: living and non-living ones for the benefit of widows and orphans
(Ouagadougou, December 21, 2024). The Commander of the Republican Guard, Battalion Chief Souleymane ZANGO, representing the Chief of Staff of the President of Faso, received on Saturday at Camp Naba-Koom 2, living and non-living donations for the benefit of the widows and orphans of the fallen soldiers.
The donations consist of five tonnes of rice, 100 FCFA 25,000 savings accounts for the benefit of the widows and orphans of the fallen soldiers, and five motorcycles for field operations. It’s a gesture of Jean KABORE and Ousmane SANKARA, Burkinabe entrepreneurs.
For donor spokesperson, Jean KABORE, this donation follows the call of the authorities during the week of psycho-social and spiritual support last September at Naaba-Koom 2 camp for the benefit of the families of personnel of the national armed forces fallen on the frontline. “We know that our country is going through a security crisis and the military are the first casualties of this war.” “That is why we decided to contribute to this war by relieving the families of fallen soldiers,” said spokesman Jean Kabore.
For the Commander of the Republican Guard, Battalion Chief Souleymane ZANGO, this gesture of the two donors is a demonstration of solidarity and mutual help towards the widows and orphans of the military fallen on the front lines. “This morning we received more donations for the families of fallen servicemen, from two generous donors who are giving us not only food, but also motorcycles and savings accounts for the orphans.” “It’s huge and we thank these donors,” said Battalion Chief Souleymane ZANGO.
The Commander of the Republican Guard has called on all Burkinabès to show their support for these widows and orphans of war. “As you know, people have sacrificed for this nation, people have lost their lives defending our lands, so it is a duty for the people of Burkinabe to work to relieve the families of our illustrious deceased,” he asserted.
Beneficiaries representative Mrs Agathe KONDOMBO has translated the gratitude of widows and orphans to donors for their generosity. The donation-giving took place during a Christmas Tree Ceremony organized by the Republican Guard at Camp Naba-Koom 2 for the benefit of the children of the fallen soldiers.
